Boston Traffic Advisories for July 4

MBTA operating on a holiday schedule, and all parking meters are free.

Expect traffic delays and detours in Downtown Boston and the Waterfront due to celebrations of the anniversary of the War of 1812 and Boston’s Hatch Shell Fourth of July Fireworks. 

Boston will implement the following parking restrictions:

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Monday July 2 through Wednesday, July 4th”

  • Beacon Street, both sides from Arlington To Clarendon Street

  • Arlington Street, both sides from Beacon Street to Boylston Street
  • Beacon Street, both sides from Charles Street to Arlington Street
  • Berkeley Street, both sides from Beacon Street to Back Street
  • Berkeley Street, eastside from St. James to Boylston
  • Boylston Street, both sides from Berkeley Street to Arlington Street
  • Chestnut Street, both sides from David G. Mugar Way to Brimmer Street
  • Clarendon Street, both sides from Beacon Street to Back Street
  • Mt. Vernon Street, both sides from David Mugar Way to Brimmer Street

The Boston Police may implement closures on city controlled roadways to ensure public safety.

Additionally, parking restrictions and road closures on Storrow Drive begin at 7 a.m. on July 4, and on Memorial Drive beginning at 6 p.m. on July 4.
