It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month: There are many ways to support the caue but woud you lik to know the best way? Take good care of yourself. Get regular check-ups, eats lots of fruits and vegetables and stay fit.

Wonder about the safety in this neighborhood? Attend the North End Public Safety meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Nazzaro Center at 30 North Bennet Street.

Learn Bug Rhymes: The North End Library on Parmenter Street will offer a chance for children to help set a record for shared reading and support literacy. Starting at 10:30 a.m., the hour-long session will involve a reading of Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad as well as making bug rhymes and a bug hat.

This Day in History: On October 4, 1955, the Brooklyn Dodgers finally won the World Series, beating the New York Yankees 2-0. They had lost the championship seven times already but, thanks to the nine innings from softpaw Johnny Podres, they finally beat the enemy for the first and last time.
