With a nod to nostalgia and an emphasis on what makes learning fun, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! has it all! Parents and grandparents will remember the songs and stories from the classic Saturday morning television programs, and children experiencing this musical for the first time will see why SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! has become an instant classic. Boston Children’s Theatre (BCT) is thrilled to bring SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! to the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts with performances on April 19, 21, 27, 28 and May 4 and 5.
Based on the popular Saturday morning cartoons of the 1970’s and ‘80’s, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! is a musical beloved by teachers, schoolchildren, their parents, and their grandparents. SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! is an entertaining and educational journey into the worlds of multiplication, science, government and grammar. Plus, it’s fun! Featuring such memorable songs as “Just A Bill,” “Conjunction Junction,” and “Interjections,” SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! teaches kids how interesting learning can be.
“I have to say that SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! has been one of the most requested shows from our audiences,” revealed BCT Executive Artistic Director Burgess Clark, who is also directing the production. “This show is a wonderful opportunity for parents to relive their childhood memories of Saturday morning television and for their children to experience the magic of SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! for the very first time. It’s the perfect show to round out our 2012-2013 season.”
With choreography by Ali Struyk and musical direction by Matt Stearn, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK! features a talented cast of local actors including Brookline resident Adena Walker; Middleton residents Sean Crosley and Rachael LeBlanc; Newburyport student Colin Budzyna; Quincy student Alex Cox; Reading resident Maritza Bostic and Rockport resident Tom Rush.
