North End Restaurant Introduces New England's Largest Lobster Roll

Pauli's new USS Lobstitution comes in at 1 1/2 pounds.

North End eatery Pauli's is now claiming to offer New England's largest lobster roll.

The restaurant at 65 Salem St. recently added the "USS Lobstitution" to its menu, and at 24 ounces (1 1/2 pounds) of "prime knuckle and claw meat"—caught fresh from Globe Fish Co. at Marine Industrial Park—the sandwich is considered to be the largest of its kind in the region.

“We have become known for our lobster rolls and have had people come in and order multiples. We thought, let’s make this bigger and better. Let’s show them how it’s really done in Boston. I haven’t seen anything else like this in New England,” Pauli's owner Paul Barker said in a press release.

Named after the USS Constitution in the Charlestown Navy Yard, the sandwich features fresh lobster, mayo and light lemon juice served on a freshly grilled roll and costs $49.99.

Smaller versions are also available for those who aren't quite ready to set sail on the Lobstitution—Pauli's offers a 14 oz. lobster sub for $28.99 and a regular lobster roll for $14.99.
