Where's Anthony?

North Ender Anthony Martignetti is famous for his role in the original Prince Spaghetti "Wednesday" commercial. Why wasn't he invited to appear in the new version of the spot?

You've probably seen the new Prince spaghetti ad, where a young Anthony Martignetti runs once again through the North End, coming home to claim a dish of pasta from his mother's table. As he runs up the street and reached the front door, the view changes to show an adult Anthony bursting into the home.

Except that's not Anthony. Not really.

Martignetti told the Boston Globe that he'd have done the spot for free, just to remain part of the tradition. But it wasn't to be.

“Who is this guy? The guy doesn’t even look Italian, and, no offense, but I’m not that heavy,” Anthony said to the Globe, describing the actor chosen to play the adult "Anthony" in the new commercial.

Martignetti, who now lives in West Roxbury and works at Dedham District Court, actually had his son try out for the new young Anthony in the new ad. The junior Martignetti didn't get the part, either.
