AT&T Lights Up Extra Wireless Coverage on the Esplanade to Support Boston's July 4th Crowds

As thousands of people converge on the Charles River Esplanade for Boston’s annual Fourth of July celebrations, AT&T is boosting network capacity to help its customers have a great wireless experience.

The company has deployed two Cell on Wheels (COWs), to accommodate expected increasedwireless network demands from high concentrations of smartphoneusers in Boston. AT&T will also provide free Wi-Fi to its customers attending the event. The temporary augmentations will help improve reliability and data speeds as the event runs July 3 and July 4.

“Boston’s spectacular Fourth of July celebration is a tradition for so many Bostonians and visitors from near and far. We know our customers will want to stay connected with friends and family and share texts, photos and updates on their social networks throughout the festivities,” said Patricia Jacobs, President, AT&T New England. “We have had a team of local network engineers hard at work on a plan for temporary enhancements that should provide great connectivity, solid coverage and fast speeds on the Esplanade and the surrounding streets of the Back Bay.”
