Getting Some Shade in the North End

The North End is filled with shops that sell clothes, jewelry and specialty Italian food.

On Hanover Street, there’s a sunglass boutique called Sol Optics.

Manager Joe Griffiths was there the day after Christmas all by himself.

But he took the time to explain what Sol Optics offers to residents, tourists and anyone passing through the North End.

The sunglass boutique opened on Hanover Street in December 2003.

“This is one of eight stores with other locations scattered around Newport, R.I. and Cape Cod,” he said.

“This is a sunglass boutique with more than 30 top-brand names of popular styles and thousands of frames to choose from,” Joe said.

Sol Optics is stocked with a full selection of sport, fashion, and lifestyle sunglasses from Italy, France and the United States.

Located at 329 Hanover Street, Joe explained that the shop provides endless possibilities for customers in vision, image and activity.

Joe said that with hundreds of styles from 30 designers (including Maui Jim, Smith, Tom Ford, Ray-Ban, Prada and bolle) Sol Optics showcases the latest fashions in the independent boutique with praised customer service.

Sol Optics is open Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
